David Cantor

David is an editor-at-large at The 74. Prior to joining The 74, David consulted for large urban school districts and a range of education groups, including advocacy and research organizations, charter schools, teachers unions, publishers, philanthropists, Common Core designers, and universities. He oversaw education practices at two New York City strategy firms and served in the Bloomberg administration for five years as chief spokesman for the Department of Education. Before entering education, David worked at the Anti-Defamation League managing a team that responded to domestic terrorism and bigotry. He wrote and spoke extensively about hate groups, far-right ideology, and religion and politics. David grew up in New England and earned undergraduate and graduate degrees from Columbia University.
