Bev Weintraub

Bev Weintraub is executive editor of The 74. A Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, she was a member of the New York Daily News Editorial Board for 10 years, specializing in education, homelessness, mental health, gun control and aviation, among other issues. In 2007, she and two colleagues received the Pulitzer Prize for Editorial Writing for an in-depth examination of the mysterious illnesses afflicting World Trade Center rescue and recovery workers after 9/11. She was copy desk chief at The News before becoming an editorial writer and more recently has served as chief speechwriter for the New York State attorney general, senior editor for Success Academy Charter Schools and owner/editor-in-chief of The Flying Typewriter freelance media consultancy. She graduated cum laude from Barnard College of Columbia University with a B.A. in linguistics and a minor in political science, and was a New York City public school parent for 17 years.
