WATCH: The HS Musical Shows Continue — Teens Taking to Social Media to Share Performances That Were Canceled Due to Coronavirus Pandemic
While American schools remain closed to encourage social distancing amid the coronavirus pandemic, #SunshineSongs continues to bring students and social media users closer together.
Broadway star and Tony Award winner Laura Benanti has the Twitterverse belting out after she issued a call for students to share videos of their school musical rehearsals. “If you were meant to perform” in your school musical and it was canceled, “post yourself singing,” Benanti declared via a Twitter video last week, after schools across the country shuttered due to a worsening coronavirus pandemic. As a consequence, school theaters lost their spring shows and audiences.
