zero2eight covers early care, development and education for children 0 through 8 years old. We publish stories from — and for — those passionate about early learning.
The first eight years of a child’s life are critical for foundational learning and brain development. Our mission is to help readers make sense of the unique challenges facing young children, their families and the early learning workforce — and to highlight innovative approaches to solving them. Our stories elevate voices from the field and the communities being served, and highlight the groundbreaking research, policies and practices moving the sector forward.
HISTORY
In 2025, zero2eight launched as a dedicated early learning vertical at The 74. Its archive of stories, published from 2018 to 2024, is composed of pieces produced by Early Learning Nation, an independent digital magazine that launched originally as an initiative of the Bezos Family Foundation. The magazine, which focused primarily on children 0-5 years old, aimed to cultivate and strengthen communities, and indeed, to help build a robust early learning nation.
