Setting up classrooms to allow for social distancing is a consistent recommendation in state guidance. Colorado advises districts to assign seating and have each desk face forward. Georgia suggests using gyms, auditoriums and outdoor spaces to further allow students to spread out.
States are advising districts to use hybrid models, with some students learning at home and some at school. These models include half-day, one-day, two-day or weekly rotations and staggered start times. California also advises having students stay with the same classmates and teacher as last year. Indiana suggests having elementary students do in-person learning, while secondary students do distance learning.
