Chris Cerf is former superintendent of Newark Public Schools. Prior to becoming superintendent, he was appointed by Gov. Chris Christie to serve as New Jersey’s commissioner of education from 2011 to 2014, where he oversaw 2,500 public schools and 1.4 million students.
