Broadway star and Tony Award winner Laura Benanti has the Twitterverse belting out after she issued a call for students to share videos of their school musical rehearsals. “If you were meant to perform” in your school musical and it was canceled, “post yourself singing,” Benanti declared via a Twitter video last week, after schools across the country shuttered due to a worsening coronavirus pandemic. As a consequence, school theaters lost their spring shows and audiences.

As thousands of performers have recorded themselves, the avalanche of tweets and videos have emerged as a notable bright spot amid all the dark headlines.
